The following pigment analysis is based on the technical examination of the painting at the National Gallery London (1).
1 Dark blue accent on the tree branch: artificial ultramarine.
2 Stroke of pure red in the foreground: vermilion.
3 Green foreground: viridian, and emerald green.
4 Tree trunk in the middle: lead white, artificial ultramarine, red lake, orange ochre and emerald grenn.
5 Sky in the upper right edge: a lower layer of viridian, artificial ultramarine, and red lake overpainted by an upper layer of artificial ultramarine.
