Amadeo Modigliani, Jeanne Hébuterneis a softly glowing and swiftly executed portrait of the artist’s wife in her pregnancy. The pigment analysis revealed a palette consisting of ochres, chrome yellow, emerald green, Prussian blue, vermilion, zinc white, lead white, and the rather rare chrome orange.

1 Brown hair: ochres, umber, and chrome yellow, and/or chrome orange
2 Red lips: vermilion
3 Skin: lead white, zinc white, chrome yellow, and/or chrome orange with small amounts of yellow ochre
4 White chemise: lead white, and zinc white
5 Brownish armchair: ochres, and umber
6 Blue background: Prussian blue
7 Black skirt: bone black
8 Greenish background: emerald green
9 Yellowish background: chrome yellow, and yellow ochre
