Claude Monet, ‘The Beach at Trouville’ is one of the series of beach scenes showing his first wife Camille and painted in rather subdued colors.
The pigment analysis revealed a palette consisting of artificial ultramarine, cobalt blue, viridian, red and yellow ochres, ivory black, and vermilion.

2 The green decoration on Camille’s bonnet: viridian
3 The blue decoration on Camille’s bonnet and the ribbon of the woman on the right: cobalt blue mixed with white
4 Grey shadows of Camille’s dress: artificial ultramarine with a little vermilion and ivory black
5Â Light areas of the dress and the bluish areas of the sky: cobalt blue and white with a small addition of ivory black and vermilion
6 Blue parasol lining: cobalt blue and white with small amounts of red ochre and black
7 Yellow sand on the beach: white, yellow ochre, vermilion, and a little ivory black
